I bootstrapped gcc as myself and installed as root.
"make install" left the following files in the build
directory owned by root, which is a problem:
gcc:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root 19 Jul 12 10:49 libgcc_s_sparcv9.so.1 -> libgcc_s_sparcv9.so*
sparc-sun-solaris2.8/sparcv9/libf2c:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 9174 Jul 12 10:49 Makefile
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 5512 Jul 12 10:49 g2c.h
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 3201616 Jul 12 10:49 libg2c.a
