I was building gcc-3.0.1 using a seperate object and source tree, when compiling failed in the gcc subdirectory, with a message saying it cannot find fp-bit.c.

Create a seperate object tree, and run
../gcc-3.0.1/configure --with-prefix=/usr/local/gcc-3.0.1

Obviously this change needs to go into the Makefile.in rather then the Makefile, however, I am unfamiliar with automake, and the Makefiles generated under Linux and Irix are quite different, so I can't find the right spot to fix, sorry!
