>Description:
building a cross compiler to target i386-coff fails with a message like:

> /tmp/ccKOIPkR.s: Assembler messages:
> /tmp/ccKOIPkR.s:113: Error: Alignment not a power of 2

Google searches showed that this error has happened for a lot of other people over the years. I have verified its still present in the latest cvs snapshot gcc-20011203.
>How-To-Repeat:
../configure --target=i386-coff --with-newlib --enable-languages="c,c++"
make
>Fix:
I found a fix here http://sources.redhat.com/ml/crossgcc/2001-03/msg00173.html. I haven't personally tried it (switched to elf instead) but it seems to work for others.
