 According to PR 4972, you claimed that your iconv problems were solved:

 If you are still having iconv problems, you should follow up with that PR
 (and not this one).
 
 Since PR 4682 mentions bootstrap problems with gcc 3.0.2 (prerelease), I
 will close PR 4682, since you mention that you are using it
 on Solaris.
 
 For problems with iconv, follow up with PR 4972.
