i686-pc-linux-gnu debian 2.2 (host, build & target)configured with :
../configure --disable-threads --prefix=/home/evbreuse/bin 
--enable-languages=java

Gcj rejects commentary in international text language like the copyright symbol.

include any international language text in comment in your source file.

trivial work-around : remove all international language text, which is a real hassle when you're using an entire library. (i can't use the jar-file cus it includes swing classes :( )
