Yes, I know, hence my comment that this bug exists in other versions of gcc, for instance: % gcc -v Reading specs from /usr/gcc/lib/gcc-lib/sparc-sun-solaris2.8/3.0.3/specs Configured with: ./configure --prefix=/usr/gcc --disable-shared Thread model: posix gcc version 3.0.3 Same code, same gcc invocation, same erroneous output.
