Compiling on a dual processor HP zx6000 Itanium-2
(1GHz).  Problem first encountered in gcc-2.96,
then in gcc-3.0.4.  Compiling with lower optimization
does not help.  Report from test of build
of gcc-3.2 has been submitted.
