 Sorry for the delay.
 
 Mine is a standard linux environment with nothing unusual anywhere.
 
 The problem is that when I compiled a source and created an executable 
 which had the same name as one of the C++ standard headers, the compiler 
 would attempt to use the compiled application and not the standard header.
