That report about problems building the gcc-20020304 snapshot on Apple Darwin is 11 months old. Certainly gcc-3.x has had, and continues to have, build problems on some systems. However, life is getting better. The gcc-3.2.1 release in December and the gcc-3.2.2 release in February both built successfully on Apple Darwin 6.3 (MacOS 10.2.3). I have successful installations of gcc-3.2.2 now on these systems: Apple Darwin 6.3 (MacOS 10.2.3) GNU/Linux Intel IA-32 (Red Hat 7.2) GNU/Linux Intel PowerPC (Yellow Dog 2.3) GNU/Linux SPARC (Red Hat 6.2) SGI IRIX 6.5 Sun Solaris 2.8 At my site, Compaq OSF/1 4.0 and IBM AIX 4.2 remain at gcc-2.95.3 since all gcc-3.x builds have failed, and no version of gcc-2.95 or gcc-3.x from ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gcc builds successfully here on Compaq OSF/1 5.1. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Nelson H.
