 I have verified that it doesn't happen in gcc 3.2.3. Please let me know if
 you think testing version 3.3 would be important.

System: OSF1 baobab.cs.uwplatt.edu V4.0 1530 alpha
Machine: alpha

target: alpha-dec-osf4.0g
configured with: ../gcc-3.2/configure --with-stabs --enable-languages=c,c++,f77,java
>Description:
On the alpha, it seems HAVE_SYS_STAT_H is not being set properly. When I
build ("make bootstrap" followed by "make install"), I get the following
error:

        /usr2/sys/usr/local/src/b/gcc/xgcc -B/usr2/sys/usr/local/src/b/gcc/ -B/usr/local/alpha-dec-osf4.0g/bin/ -B/usr/local/alpha-dec-osf4.0g/lib/ -isystem /usr/local/alpha-dec-osf4.0g/include -c -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -g -I. -I../../../gcc-3.2/libiberty/../include  -W -Wall -Wtraditional -pedantic ../../../gcc-3.2/libiberty/getpwd.c

        *** Exit 1
        Stop.
        *** Exit 1
        Stop.
I then edited getpwd.c to change the line
        #if HAVE_SYS_STAT_H
to
        #if 1
and getpwd.c builds just fine.

"make bootstrap" (which requires a number of fixes for Digial Unix; see
earlier PR'S) followed by "make install".
