 Sorry, I wasn't being clear. I just meant that building with  
 srcdir==objdir was no excuse for build breaking, and in my testing  
 (darwin, i686-linux), it worked fine. But I haven't tested OpenBSD...

    Huh. I suspect that libstdc++ is not being found, because that is where this particular definition is located.
    
    However, you've not followed the build directions here:
    http://gcc.gnu.org/install/build.html
    
    Where a SEPARATE source and build directory setup is mentioned.
