 Actually, vendor's Make was found before GNU Make in the PATH. Indeed, 'make bootstrap' with GNU Make 3.80 (or 3.79.1) works perfectly fine.
 
 Therefore you can probably close this bug. Sorry about that.

 this looks very strange. Somehow, in stage two, the build is deciding  
 for some unfathomable reason to go back to using AIX cc. Bizarre. Just  
 out of curiosity, you are using a recent version of GNU make, right?
