I got the latest snapshot from
ftp://egcs.cygnus.com/pub/egcs/snapshots/index.html

The content of the file
egcs-19980628/INSTALL/README
is:

>This directory has been obsoleted for egcs snapshots and CVS access.
>
>Instead check out the toplevel "wwwdocs" as a sibling of your egcs
>tree or read these files via the egcs web site
> http://egcs.cygnus.com

But I can't find "wwwdocs" nowhere! Where is it???

Best regards,
Tobias Naehring

You're right, there is no file or directory "wwwdocs".
I suppose the INSTALL/README file should be corrected.

The wwwdocs directory is not part of the snapshot (maybe it should
be).

You can check it out via cvs the same way you checked out egcs though.

Nothing needs to be corrected, it's there:

$ hostname
egcs.cygnus.com
$ pwd
/egcs/carton/cvsfiles
$ ls -l
total 7
drwxrwsr-x   4 anoncvs  anoncvs      2048 Jul  5 22:25 CVSROOT
drwxrwsr-x  16 anoncvs  anoncvs      1024 Jul  5 22:59 egcs
drwxrwsr-x  76 anoncvs  anoncvs      3072 Jul  5 22:25 libc
drwxrwsr-x   4 gumby    anoncvs      1024 Jul  5 22:29 wwwdocs

You can get it either via "cvs co wwwdocs" or by simply directing your
WWW browser to < http://egcs.cygnus.com >.

Heheh, I am glad my ignorance showed that the README is a bit unclear
about the need to use cvs :).

Maybe because I am not native english, but I did read:

"Instead check out the toplevel "wwwdocs" as a sibling of your egcs"

as:

"Instead 'have a look at' the `in the root of your package' "wwwdocs"
 as a ??? of your egcs `distribution'"

where I put '?' at the place that I didn't understand.
Hmm, `sibling' is not even in my dictionary.

I propose to add: "with `cvs co wwwdocs'"

or something less ambigious :)
