I have noticed some traffic concerning the gnat ADA front-end and the EGCS
suite.

Could someone please point me to information on how to compile the gnat ada
compiler front-end together with the egcs or perhaps directly spell out the
steps needed to me? Please use an example such as Solaris 2.5.x or Linux 2.0.x.

TIA,

/Christian Jönsson

There has been a little traffic, but at this time Ada isn't on the top of
the priority list.

There really isn't any solid info on how to build the Ada front end with
egcs. However I can tell you the following from my experience:

  * Since the Ada front end is written in Ada, you'll have to start with
an existing set of binaries. Try ftp.cs.nyu.edu:/pub/gnat to see if
they've got binaries for whatever system you're using.

  * Copy that "ada" source subdirectory into egcs/gcc/ada.

And build using the basic instructions provided by the GNAT/NYU folks.

It basically "just worked" for me once I was able to work around some
bugs in the gcc-2.7 HPPA binaries provided by GNAT/NYU for building the
first stage compiler.
