Successfuly compiled and installed on:
i586-pc-linux-glibc1.
Configure complains about not finding:
ptem.h, thread.h & inttypes.h.
1. Should I be concerned about this? If so,
2. What programs need to be installed to get these files.

No. configure is just performing feature tests to determine what features
your operating system has. If your OS does not have a particular feature,
then egcs won't use it.
