Remeber that the info interface is over 20 years old. It was pretty good for its time. It was still ahead of its time when it was (re-)introduced in GNU Emacs in the 80's. And a lot of it is a matter of taste and what you are used to. I can't say I've ever gotten comfortable with the lynx user interface. How well does lynx support sequentially reading a structured document? I'm fairly sure not as well as info does. Still, I think lynx with some moderate extensions may make a reasonable replacement for stand-alone info.
