Hi
I downloaded the file
ftp://egcs.cygnus.com/pub/egcs/releases/egcs-1.1b/egcs-1.1b.tar.gz and it
appears that there is a checksum error (I downloaded the file a few times
with the same problem).

I had this problem too, although on another ftp site.
Hmm, I can't remember it anymore, but now I think of it, it went
wrong with a particular client; either netscape or ncftp, while the
other client worked. If you're using netscape, try downloading it
with ncftp and vicaversa.
