I thought it might be best if I included more info.
Here is the verbose output.  As you can see the linker is
looking in /usr/lib for libc_nonshared.a.  libc_nonshared.a
exists in two places on the system but even adding the
-L/glibc-test/usr/lib (one of the places) does not help
the linker find the file.   Since this compiler was built as
a cross compiler, I don't think it should look in /usr/lib
at all.  For instance it doesn't look in /usr/include for 
headers which is correct AFAICT.
