RTFI (read the fine index). Please note that while Stroustrup's 3rd edition is an excellent book, it contains many errors. See http://www.research.att.com/~bs/3rd_errata.html for a list of the known ones. The book has gone through nine printings now, and how many errors you have in your copy reflects which printing you have. The errata list for the 9th printing is quite small, unfortunately I bought the 2nd printing which has loads of errors.
