That's my problem I have installed a pretty old 
version of the compiler (those from Slackware 
3.0) which doesn't let me compile even cpio.
So I can't use Red Hat's RPM. (vicious circle!)

Do you know if any version of these compilers 
help me install the GCC.2.95.2?
