The -v2 library predates the C++ standard and thus is so noncompliant it's scary. (Its authors should still be credited with doing an excellent job, given that they weren't seers nor prophets and couldn't have known what the LWG would end up with.) I don't believe retaining the v2 library as part of the distribution best serves anybody. Maybe it should be archived with instructions on how to install it with --disable-libstdcxx-v3, in case a user needs a pre-standard library.
