Yes, but only in a bit less than 4 months: We are now in "Stage 2" of
the development plan described at < http://gcc.gnu.org/develop.html >;
the branch will be created at the end of "Stage 3".

We really need an HTML table at the end of develop.html, with the versions
along one axis, the stages/effects along the other axis, and the calendar
dates in the cells.

Why have I not added a patch in this email? I started to, and then I
realized that I don't understand the development plan. :-)

That page also needs lists of important targets for each release cycle.
Where is the list of important targets for 3.1?

That's bad. We need to improve the description.

I'll try to describe how (I believe) it works:

  GCC 3.1 Phase 1 (ended October 15th 2001)
       |
       v
  GCC 3.2 Phase 2 (ends December 15th 2001)
       |
       v
  GCC 3.2 Phase 3 (ends February 15th 2002)
       |
       +-- GCC 3.2 branch created ---------------+
       | |
       v v
  GCC 3.3 Phase 1 (ends April 15th 2002) GCC 3.2 release (April 15th)
       | |
       v v
  GCC 3.3 Phase 2 (ends June 15th 2001) GCC 3.2.1 release (June 15th)
       | |
       V v
  GCC 3.3 Phase 3 :
       |
       +-- GCC 3.3 branch created ---------------+
       | :
       :

Now we'll get that patch, won't we? ;-) (Preapproved, btw.)

I think you mean "GCC 3.1 Phase 2"

Otherwise, thanks. This was helpful. I think we should have something
like this on the release page.

I believe Phil volunteered to add something to the web site, didn't he?
