Have the KDE issues been resolved in 3.0.3? also, what of the Kernel 2.4 
8139too.c ICE?

I'm kind of hoping that we don't have to wait for GCC 3.1 to fix these issues.

One more parting shot. Does GLIBC compile w/ GCC 3.0.3? (I don't exactly 
expect it to, but it would be _really_ nice)

glibc-2.2.5 will have gcc3 support, for KDE one can try the patch in 
gcc-3.0.3/contrib/PR3145.patch, it's a quick backport of the virtual 
inheritance bugfix for c++/3145 that affected KDE2.

Something that has been getting on my nerves is that it is impossible to (at 
least thru a direct link) read a PR w/o having a GNATS login.

Any plans to make the GNATS db available for public access?

Yeah, I understand how that can be annoying.

Try:
Login: guest, Password: guest

You need to use a web browser with cookie support.

There should probably be some text on the login page making
this obvious.

Cookie support has been checked for already (and yes, I hate us requiring
cookies), and I have just enhanced the login page to mention the guest
login.

It is public - just log in as guest/guest or use the link from the
main site to "GNATS",

Gerald fixed the problem that the gnats login page wasn't saying,
"Enter guest/guest to log in", but I figured it wouldn't be too
hard to change gnatsweb's annoying behavior to assume a default of
guest/guest automatically.  And so it is.  cf

This is "gnatswebber.pl" instead of "gnatsweb.pl".  I've tested it
a reasonable amount, but I haven't read over gnatsweb.pl with care
so I wanted to give other people a chance to test it before I commit
the change. I'll attach the patch, it's really pretty straightforward.

This patch should also make gnatsweb usable for people who don't
accept cookies, at least for read-only access.  gnatsweb will still
try to push cookies at you when you make queries (to remember the
query you made), but it will work fine regardless of whether you
accept the cookie or not.

Just some general GNATS questions for you too:

How hard would it be to:
(1) Change GNATS so that it could automatically detect attachments
    in e-mail and have them show up as attachments on the web page?

(2) Change gccbug, so that it used mime attachments instead of inlining
    the attachment in the text?

The GNATS project has a note about MIME and GNATS:

Unfortunately gnats was written long before MIME was prevalent, so
ad hoc methods like this are not very good.  The gnatsweb access
mode has its own attachment mechanism, which no other gnats access
methods can decode; the URL above stores attachments as seperate
files, which no gnatsd access method could read (you'd need to log
in to the machine directly to access them).

I suppose it'd be possible to use a script like the one mentioned
above, store the attachments in an anonftp directory, and add links
to those files in the PRs.  That would all work correctly and
reasonably.  This is me not volunteering to do that, though.

gnats will be undergoing a big change when gnats v4 is finished;
it will probably be worthwhile to upgrade to that on gcc.gnu.org
at some point, and they may have addressed this issue in gnats v4
in a more integrated manner.

There was some talk at looking at bugzilla, due to the
shortcomings in GNATS:

Is there still interest in this?  As a heavy user
of GCC GNATS, I find that the lack of good support
for mime attachments makes it inconvenient to use,
especially when a bug submitter submits 5000 lines
of preprocessed source in a web text entry field.

I might be able to spend some time looking at GNATS
sometime in the beginning of 2002.

the release process we have entered these days.
