Howdy,

I have built gcc-3.0.4 on a newly installed solaris2.9 system. I got the
.iso images from sun.com. It's free!!! No, I don't work for sun.

I used the "out of the box" as and ld versions.

Binutils-2.11.2 built and installed but could not be used to build
gcc-3.0.4.

config.guess said sparc-sun-solaris2.9 but I think it should have said
sparcv9.sun-solaris2.9. isainfo returns "sparcv9 sparc", uname -p returns
sparc.

gcc -v
Reading specs from ./../lib/gcc-lib/sparcv9-sun-solaris2.9/3.0.4/specs
Configured with: ../configure --prefix=/usr/lsd/SunOS.5.9 --verbose
--x-includes=/usr/openwin/include --x-libraries=/usr/openwin/lib
--host=sparcv9-sun-solaris2.9 --with-libiconv-path=/usr/lsd/SunOS.5.9/lib
--enable-libgcj
Thread model: posix
gcc version 3.0.4

file gcc
gcc: ELF 64-bit MSB executable, SPARC V9, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically
linked (uses shared libs), not stripped

Regards,

George...

Sweet.

config.guess doesn't really try to investigate the running kernel...

You don't need to add those last two. The compiler doesn't use X. :-)
