Note: Other than specifying details related to binutils (--with-gnu-as --with-as=/usr/bin/as --with-gnu-ld --with-ld=/usr/bin/ld), the default configure options were used after installing gmp, mpfr, ppl and cloog [*]. This build used the system's copy of binutils (based on GNU binutils 2.15 circa 2004-05-23): http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-testresults/2009-08/msg01524.html [*] Installed from the FreeBSD ports system with system compiler gcc-4.2.1: /usr/ports/math/libgmp4 [4.3.1] /usr/ports/math/mpfr [2.4.1] /usr/ports/devel/ppl [0.10.2] Installed by hand since not yet present in the FreeBSD ports system: cloog-ppl-0.15.7.tar.gz [from http://gcc.gnu.org/] Summary across all recent testing of GCC 4.4.1 on this platform: (1) boehm-gc working with binutils 2.15, 2.16.1, not with 2.19.1 (current plan: determine root cause and likely fix/update binutils 2.19.1 or boehm-gc's configuration for this platform); (2) libmudflap results looking poor, libmudflap -pthread results looking very poor (current plan: either fix or disable for this platform); (3) most gcc/g++ failures due to FP issues or (missing) builtins (i.e. long-standing).
