Hi, I would like to begin contributing to the GCC project, and Segher
suggested that I should take care of the copyright assignment forms.

I am reaching out to obtain them. I am currently unemployed so there's
no issue with an employer.

Thanks

Hello,

I’m interested in submitting PRs on gfortran, voluntarily from time to time as my time permits.

Thus, I’m contacting you to obtain the relevant forms.

I got the assignment form on 3rd of January, really quick.
I returned a scanned copy of the signed form to assign@gnu.org, as told in the

Hi Rainer,

You need to forward your email to <assign@gnu.org>. It is the FSF, not the GCC project, that handles copyright assignment paperwork.

You need to specify your name, the name of your employer, and the name and title of the person who will be signing on behalf of the company. You also need to list which FSF projects (e.g., GCC, Binutils, GDB, glibc -- or just blanket ALL) you wish to contribute to.

Usually the FSF copyright office replies within 1-2 days, and feel free to ping us back here at gcc@ if FSF legal stalls.

Thanks,

Sent off-list.

(FYI for others: we generally send off-list because there are several
forms, and us sending the form makes it more likely that the
contributor will fill out the right one.)

Thanks, I just sent the request to the list because the GCC webpage
http://gcc.gnu.org/contribute.html

request you to contact the list to obtain the forms:
"See some documentation by the FSF for details and contact us (either
via the gcc@gcc.gnu.org list or the GCC maintainer that is taking care
of your contributions) to obtain the relevant forms. The most common
forms are an assignment for a specific change, an assignment for all
future changes, and an employer disclaimer, if an employer or school
owns work created by the developer. "

Cheers,

Paulo

I would like to begin the (potentially long) process of getting a
copyright assignment on file with the FSF. To that end, I would
appreciate it if someone would let me know exactly what I need to do
to get the appropriate forms, and what I should do with said forms
once I get them.

Please find attached a request for that is appropriate for this situation.
If you haven't made any changes yet, just leave those fields on the form
blank or, better, specify "none".

Then, please send this form to the email address indicated therein. You
will receive a paper form by postal mail, which you sign and send back to
the FSF. Voila, that's it.

Thanks for contributing!
