The preferred way is to always have a previous 64bit compiler available -- building the 64bit PA tools is exceedingly hard using a 32bit GCC or the HP provided compilers. Even if you have 64bit PA tools, you're going to run into problems as that toolchain doesn't receive nearly the attention that the 32bit toolchain receives. jeff
