This is a bug in the linux config files in libio. Jim posted a patch for
this problem a day or two ago.

You can try the "bootstrap" target if you pick up the makefile fragment I
posted to the list a few days ago.

configure --srcdir=whereever
cd gcc
make bootstrap
make compare
cd ..
make
