Subject: how to make egcs the default
Date: Mon, 25 Oct 1999 07:52:00 -0000	[thread overview]

Hi,

I carefully followed your instructions for building egcs. I have gcc
2.7.2.3 installed and would like to replace it completely with egcs.

I followed your symlink instructions in your FAQ that say:
Then make a symlink from /usr/local/bin/gcc to /usr/local/gcc/bin/gcc and
>from /usr/local/bin/gcc2 to /usr/local/gcc2/bin/gcc (example).

The problem is that I see no directory called bin in either the 2.7.2.3
or egcs directory. What I did instead was make a sym link from
/usr/bin/gcc pointing to /usr/bin/egcs.

Can you give me some guidance on this last step. I am not experienced in
working with C compiler as you might have guessed.

Gil
