Ladies and Gentlemen:

I have two Intel based PC's, one of which runs Windows Millenium Edition
(Windows ME ) and the other one run AT&T's Unix SVR4.2 which I understand
was the last version of Unix produced by AT&T before selling Unix. The SVR4.2
comes complete with a C compiler, linker and debugger and I have used the
C compiler successfully.

I shoudl very much like to get a C++ and templates from gnu. However from the
web pages, I cannot tell whether your C++ runs on a SVR4.2 platform. I do see
a web reference to "all ELF targets (SVR4, Solaris 2, etc.)" but I am not sure
of the
implications of that statement.

Could you clarify this statement for me?

Is there a version of C++ that I could use on Windows ME?

Best regards,

Owen R. Coon

There were a couple of SVR4.2 systems that shipped. If your is one of
the SVR4.2/386 systems (i.e. it's running on some direct PC mutant)
current GCC would probably work on it but will probably require some
minor tweaking somewhere. The UnixWare 1 and 2 products were direct
descendants of that strain and we do have people reporting success on
UnixWare 2 from time to time.
