I've build and installed gcc 3.1 on the system detailed here:
i686-pc-linux-gnu
Reading specs from /usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.1/specs
Configured with: /usr/local/src/gcc-3.1/configure --prefix=/usr/local
--enable-languages=c,c++
Thread model: single
gcc version 3.1
SuSE Linux 7.3 (i386)
2.4.18-lkpc-4 (linux kernel patch collection, rc4)
glibc-2.2.4-21
