g77 problem with "make check"

I keep getting:

I suppose there are parameters missing somewhere, making it try to use
an installed something maybe?  Of course a "make check" should always work,
also if you never installed anything.

This is a problem in the f-torture testsuite driver.  A minor one that
we'll hopefully fix soon.
