gcc-not-aligned	76.63 MFLOPS
gcc-2.8.1		123.78 MFLOPS

I don't normally see gcc-2.8.1 running so much faster than egcs snapshots.
These speeds and yours are consistent with peak results I have obtained on
Livermore Kernels with g77.
