Looking at http://gcc.gnu.org/wiki/RecentChanges shows that the GCC wiki
is being spammed a lot. Somebody should employ some kind of spam protection.

The attack is still ongoing, CC'ing overseers

In fact the spam level on the wiki has been rather high for some time
now, but since yesterday it practically exploded. We should definitely
think about some way to prevent this (cf. e.g.
http://moinmo.in/AntiSpamFeatures). Is it feasible to require new wiki
accounts be authorized by an admin?

Cheers,
Janus

Several other sourceware-hosted moin wikis have adopted a group-ACL-based
protection, which has eliminated the problem. This involves maintaining
a special wiki page that lists approved editors (and is editable by those
editors). If you're interested in trying this, please send me an initial
list of editor WikiNames.

I suggest starting with these known-good names who've been recently active:

JanusWeil
DodjiSeketeli
IanLanceTaylor
TobiasBurnus
JonathanWakely
ManuelLópezIbáñez

Is there an easy way to revert a spam change to a page? I don't see one.

(Assuming we want to go down the ACL route.)

Doh, found it in the "more actions" dropdown.

Done! :-)

(It's only accessible there to "admin" moin users.)

Thanks.

I've reverted or deleted all the spam I could find (and that you
hadn't already done) and have added lots of people to the EditorGroup
who had made good changes in the past.

While we are on the subject, is there anything that can be done about
the levels of spam on this mailing list (and the gcc-help list)? I get
the feeling it has increased quite a bit recently - soon it will start
to annoy people.

For the RTEMS wiki, we require a 50 word bio and manually approve accounts. It is effort to approve accounts but less than the spam clean up was.

It is sad either way.
