Subject: looking for pointers to latest binutils and other necessities
Date: Fri, 31 Oct 1997 10:49:00 -0000 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <9710311848.AA26744@kona.> (raw)
Could someone post a pointer to a suitably new version of binutils?
I've seen mention of a development snapshot (971023) and also to
versions like 2.8.1.0.15. But no pointers...
I've been trying to do a build of a large embedded system using the
latest egcs snapshot (partly to answer the question that was posed
about code size). So far I can't get it to work. The newest linker I
have (2.8.1) crashes trying to build the image; an older linker (2.6)
does run but spits out thousands of messages of the form "Warning:
type of symbol `test_sysName' changed from 1 to 2 in sys_aaf.o".
(What does that mean, anyway?) And the resulting image crashes in a
strange way that I haven't been able to sort out.
So I want to redo the test with sufficiently up to date tools. By the
way, it might be useful to have pointers on the egcs webpage.
Thanks,
paul
