I got following results as you instructed:-

1. Output from running srcdir/config.guess =  i686-pc-linux-gnu
2. Output of `gcc -v' =

     Using built-in specs
     Target = i686-pc-linux-gnu
     Configured with: /source/gcc-4.3.1/configure --libdir=/usr/lib CC=/usr/bin/gcc
                              --libexecdir=/usr/libexec --includedir=/usr/include
     Thread model = posix
     gcc version 4.3.1(GCC)

3. Distribution name and version : DNALinux 0.50
4.  Linux kernel version : 2.6.12.2
5.  glib version : 1.2.10
6.  glib-2.0 version : 2.6.5
7.   Other useful information

      The most important thing is that I used gcc-3.3.4 to compile whole source of GCC-4.3.1 , and to include that my compile first failed with 'make bootstrap' ; then I used 'make' it also failed atlast at third 'make bootstrap' worked and it installed easily with 'make install'.
