Thanks! Hoping it's a more ANSI C++ compiler than the dreck that
SunSoft sells....

Output from running srcdir/config.guess: sparc-sun-solaris2.5.1
(I used CC=/op/SUNWspro/bin/c89 to bootstrap.)
Output from "g++ --version": egcs-2.90.29 980515 (egcs-1.0.3 release)
P.S. I had some trouble getting started because I followed the README
under srcdir and not the instructions under INSTALL. Once I found the
"recipe" under INSTALL, everything went smoothly.

I have only installed egcs-1.1b core and egcs-1.1b g++, and
I had no problems building it.
I haven't run the test, but everything seems to work.
Output from srcdir/config.guess:
i486-pc-linux-gnulibc1
Regards,
J"org-Michael Baur.

From your web page:

I successfully built and installed egcs 1.0.3a by doing
a "make bootstrap-lean". The only problem I ran into
was with the make of makeinfo; I sent in the bug report
on that earlier today.
The output of config.guess is:
alpha-dec-osf4.0d
