All the snapshots dating back to the start of the project are
online (though older ones are no longer available as components).

Snapshots are being made from the mainline sources; I think we've
got the key submissions for 1.0.2 installed, so I'l be making a
pre-release diff from 1.0.1 to 1.0.2 available shortly.

./configure --enable-shared --enable-haifa --prefix=...

i suspect that something is going wrong with --enable-shared.
From compilation log it loooks like there is no
-fPIC/-fpic options while compiling sh.lib
object file.

I was unable to reproduce your problem, on an unpatched Solaris 2.6
host.  Was your ld patched somehow?  Isn't it from any Sun compiler
package?

it might be so...

But the real problem is that all files in pic/
directory are compiled without -fPIC option - 
i don't think linker is the cause of the problem...

Someone contacted me in personal e-mail and
confirmed he had the same problem on Solaris 2.6/x86

just in case

Mine are...  Did you get the snapshot with CVS, patches or from the
tar file?  There were some problems in the previous snapshot,
regarding PICFLAG and PICFLAG_FOR_TARGET, that may have caused some
confusion in the latest one.  What are PICFLAG and PICFLAG_FOR_TARGET
defined to, in mh-frag and mt-frag?

Yes, those files will be updated when I officially announce the
02-22 snapshot -- I'm still working with some of the mirror sites
to get them flipped to the new server.

Hi,

egcs 1.0.2 on Solaris 2.6/Sparc

created obj directory, ../src/configure --prefix ...

SUN as and ld

build went ok along with installation.

My code compiled with -g fails during linkage with bugs like

Undefined			first referenced
 symbol  			    in file
overflow_error::overflow_error(basic_string<char, string_char_traits<char>, __default_alloc_template<true, 0> > const &)/home/room1/kriol/work/Project/lib/sparc-sun-solaris-gcc/libGeometry.a(GeometryTracker.o)


checked obj file - and indeed constructor is UNDEFined.

from <stdexcept>:

class overflow_error : public runtime_error {
public:
  overflow_error (const string& what_arg): runtime_error (what_arg) { }
};


looks like EGCS forgot to instantiate constructor body
in debug mode
