Hi,
I tried to compile linux kernel 2.1.99 on an alphaPC 164LX box. The compiler
get a SIGSEGV while compiling driver/net/8390.c with -O2 optimization.
-O is fine. The kernel itself then seems to work, but get lots of message
"Reentering interrupt routine" in ne, and things come to a grinding halt when
I try to mount an NFS disk or when I try to start the lpd daemon.
I use binutils 2.9.0.3 BTW.

Have you tried egcs 1.0.3 prerelease? A few alpha bugs are fixed.

Hmm, is there a patch from egcs-1.0.2 to egcs-1.0.3-pre somewhere ?
I used the egcs-1.0.2-2.src.rpm package to build the compiler.

You can get it from CVS.
BTW, I compiled linux 2.1.99 on alpha-unknown-linux-gnu with egcs
1.0.3 prerelease. It runs fine.
