I sucessfully built egcs 1.0.1 on a HP 9000/730 running HP-UX 10.20. I had
previously built gcc 2.8.0 and gas, and used these to build egcs.
> ./config.guess
hppa1.1-hp-hpux10.20
> gcc2 --version
2.8.0
> gcc --version
egcs-2.90.23 980102 (egcs-1.0.1 release)
I particularly like the 'make bootstrap' feature. Once I figured out how to
let the make process know about gas (by putting a symbolic link in the gcc
directory) I was able to type 'make bootstrap' and leave the process alone.
