Subject: alloca + function call
Date: Wed, 03 Dec 1997 17:03:00 -0000	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <x7hg8q11y0.fsf@myware.rz.uni-karlsruhe.de> (raw)

Hi,

Could gcc be changed in a way that code like

	a = foo (alloca (42), b);

generated an error (or at least a warning)? On machines which pass
parameters on the stack a straight forward implementation (in ix86 asm)

	pushl	b
	subl	$42, %esp	allocate 42 bytes on stack
	pushl	%esp
	call	foo

will fail miserable.
