  Moreover if I move to common subdirectory,
CC make variable is not even set to x86_64-w64-mingw32-gcc,
which means that doing a 'make' in that directory 
leads to using plain 'cc', which happens to be
native cygwin GCC compiler on my system, but
this is completely wrong, no?

  CC should be inherited from parent directory
by configure script, no?

  Make 'configure' skills are still too weak
to really help out here, sorry...
