This series merges the majority of both into a new common file. The final patch is optional. It removes a workaround for a bug in a single glibc release from 18 years ago. This series could be approved with the exception of patch 5 if somebody wants to keep the workaround in place, but I'd prefer to remove it if that's ok. Built and regtested on RHEL 7.5 x86_64.
