This changes the observer tests in observer.exp to be written in C++
and use the self-test framework.  This was a bit simpler than trying
to make the .exp test work again.

This weekend I decided to try to convert observers to C++.  This
series is the result.

I'm a bit undecided about this patch.  I tend to think it's a mild
improvement, but it does have some disadvantages as well.  Mostly I
covered these in the description for the first patch.

It does have one long(er) term advantage, which is that it's simpler
to add features to this code.  For example, adding a way to provide a
user-data argument to a callback can be done by subclassing the new
gdb_function; or by adding an equivalent to std::bind.

This is broken into a series for easier review, but the patch would
have to be squashed before landing.

This patch requires you to do a clean build after it is applied,
because observer.h now migrates to the source directory.  This could
be fixed by changing the name of the new file -- easy to do if you'd
prefer that.

Built and regtested on x86-64 Fedora 24.

The first patch changed the return type of the observer attach
function.  This patch changes the few spots where this type matters.

This converts observers from using a special source-generating script
to be plain C++.

This translation is less ideal than I'd like in a couple of ways.
Still, I think it's a mild improvement, on the basis that ordinary
code is preferable to an ad hoc code generator.

First, it introduces a gdb analogue to std::function, the real one not
being available until C++11.

Second, it works around the lack of variadic templates in a mildly
ugly way.

In C++11 it would be ~300 lines of code shorter.

fwiw I think you can reduce the boilerplate in the observer classes with
something like this.

unfortunately you need to keep the constructors in the subclasses
because you don't have inheriting constructors.

Its perhaps more complicated, but with final I believe all the notify
calls will get devirtualized by a reasonable compiler and you will end up
with code basically identical to what you wrote.
