[PATCH 2/4] sim: Remove self-assignments

Clang generates a warning if a redundant self-assignment is detected.
Because of default configuration ("-Werror"), it causes a build failure on
the default configuration (without "--disable-werror").

This commit removes two redundant self-assignments.
