Applying additionally the patch from
http://sourceware.org/ml/gdb-patches/2010-01/msg00397.html
fixes the problem indeed (and does not have the performance impact as my initial
workaround had). There was no extra output in this case, so presumably the
svr4_in_dynsym_resolve_code() is not called at all anymore after applying the
second patch.
