Could you run "gdb /usr/bin/firefox" and post all the output?

This is for Mandriva 2010.1 & YES the debug-version is installed.

We need more information here.
I don't understand what is wrong.
/usr/bin/firefox probably doesn't have debug info.
Do you have the debuginfo package installed?
If so, does gdb mention it at startup?
What platform is this?
