On Mac OS X Lion, this problem is present with GCC 4.6.0.

With GCC 4.7.0 r180238 it's cleared; I only get

(gdb) run

hello world!
[Inferior 1 (process 1985) exited normally]

I don't know what it would have done if the GCC build tree hadn't been present,
but anyway this is clearly a different problem.
