             Bug #: 15251
           Summary: type-printing should optionally elide defaulted
                    template parameters
           Product: gdb
           Version: unknown
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: c++
        AssignedTo: unassigned@sourceware.org
        ReportedBy: tromey@redhat.com
    Classification: Unclassified

Type printing (ptype, whatis, but also possibly in qualified names
in general) should optionally elide defaulted template arguments.
This would generally be much clearer.
As with other ptype options there should be a setting to control
this. IMO it should default to eliding.

See the linked gcc bug; it has a patch to change GCC
to emit the needed information.
