The upcoming libreadline 8.1 has bracketed paste mode enabled by default, which
means that it emits "\e[?2004h" before the prompt.  That totally breaks the
testsuite, because default_gdb_start expects $gdb_prompt to be preceded by
newline:

        -re "\[\r\n\]$gdb_prompt $" {
            verbose "GDB initialized."
        }

Instead the testsuite thinks that gdb never initialized:

        -re "$gdb_prompt $"     {
            perror "GDB never initialized."
            unset gdb_spawn_id
            return -1
        }
